I can't imagine living in States or Atlantic. It is below 0 degree these few days. It is freezing. Manchester's snow doesn't settle most of the times. However, it settled til evening nowadays. I love snow, but only if I'm not working. This is because only then I can have a very nice cup of hot chocolate, standing in front of my window, looking at the beautiful scene outside. I hate it when I have to work, because it is freezing and it is difficult to even walk to the bus stop!
I don't have time to take much photos. But I managed to get three photos from my room this morning before work.
I hope that I don't have to work the next time it snows. So that I can at least take more photos!!!
Hi everyone out there,
It has been a while since I last update. There are so much going on in my life. But, I'm really lazy to blog them all.
I moved to a new place. It is a house, not what I expect. New people, new house, new life. I miss my old place alot. I miss all my friends alot. It had been a wonderful year, with wonderful people around me. But time flies. People come and people go. What stays is the memories. Lots and lots of memories. I really miss you guys alot.
I work part time now as a receptionist/admin in a non profit organisation. It is not the ideal job, but at least it fills up some of my time. I try to make myself as busy as possible. I try to keep those memories in box. I need new girl friends to hang around.
Time flies on weekend. It goes so fast. I appreciate my weekend more since I start working, even though it is just a part time job. Weekend is so precious for me now. I wonder how is it going to be if I have a full time job. Will I have one? crossed fingers.
Here are some photos of my new house.
Linds, H and I went to The Manchester Museum today. It is part of the University? I'm not sure. It is not a fancy museum. In fact, it is kind of old. But it has two quite attractive section. One is the mummy section, Ancient Egyt, where they actually display the remaining human body. The other section is live animals section!! It has only reptiles, lizards, snakes and frogs. I didn't take photos at the mummy section because I feel like I shall at least respect the body. But I took some photos when I was at the live animals section. I just wanted to stay there and take photos. But I couldn't figure out the setting. Some of them are quite blur.
Then we move on to the 'Money' section and this is the first thing we saw.
Linds and I looked at each other, speechlessly. Then we started to sing 'Money, Money, Money, must be funny, it's a rich man world....' hahaha..
I spotted his t-shirt when I was walking behind H. I thought it said I am Brella. hahahaha.. So I took a picture, because Linds, H and I always made fun of the song Umbrella. 'Ella, ella...' It is actually Lambretta. It is a British clothing brand. hahaha..
Linds and I took a photo in front of the Museum. =)
More random photos around campus.
Graduations are held in this building.
Every uni needs to have a building covered with trees/leaves/plant, whatever they are? They have a building like this in University of Sheffield too.
Happy Reading!
I shall not forget about my Canon Digital Ixus 700, just like I shouldn't forget my old friends when I have a new friend.
So, here we are - Photos presented by my Ixus 700.
I was reading on the bench nearby the main library. I jogged there once, and realised that the place is quiet and nice. So I took my book yesterday and read there because I couldn't concentrate anyway in the library.
I went out with my Canadian friend, K on Sunday. We were planning to go to the Summer Food and Drink Festival. However, the entrance fee alone costs us £11. So, we decided to go to Rusholme (the Curry Mile) to have some food. I picked a Sri Langkan restaurant, King Cobra. I been there once with my flatmates and I quite like one of the dishes there. It is called Lumpries. It comes in banana leaves. It is a rice dish with cuttle fish, onion with hot spicy sauce, brinjal, chicken and boiled egg. It sounds like Nasi Lemak in Malaysia, isn't it? I wonder if Nasi Lemak originally comes from Sri Langka.
Lumpries is different from the Nasi Lemak in Malaysia, as its hot spicy sauce is not Sambal sauce. In fact, I won't call it spicy. Also, it doesn't has anchovies. But, it is still something nice and different from other food. And, it does remind me of Nasi Lemak a bit. haha. I would recommend it if you ever go to any Sri Langkan restaurant.
As usual, the waiter served us papadum with some sauces for appertiser.
Yummy~
Are you hungry now?
NERD! I want to be a nerd. I need to be a nerd.
I LOVE law books. Aren't they beauuu-ti-fullll???!! B.E.A.U.Ti-fullllllll.
I was pretending to do some works in the law library. The photo is taken by 'Michael'. not too bad right?
OK. Let's be a nerd. Which book do u want to read first? The green one? blue one? red one? white one? top corner one? PICK ONE!!! We have to be nerddddddddd.
I love law books. You love them too, don't you?
As you can see, I am becoming sentimental, but without the 'senti' part. You get it?!
Before everyone get bored with my iGoogle obsession, I shall post up more photos.
hmm.. how about more photos of Manchester?
09 June 2008
It was a very sunny day. Linds's mom, Marg came and visited. So, we took her around Manchester. We walked along the canal. It is quite nice. I haven't been there since my visit to Manchester when I was in undergraduate. Pretty long ago right?
We went to the Museum of Science and Industry. Again, my last time there was my undergraduate. It is still the same though.
However, our main plan is to go to the Body Worlds. Only Marg and I though. I really wanted to go to the Body Worlds and Marg said she is quite interested in it too. So both of us went, while Linds and Pink Lady went to the museum. -.-
It was an amazing experience. I would love to go again next time. I wasn't allow to take any photo. Actually.. I didn't even bother to ask if I am allowed or not because I think I shouldn't. haha.. But, I will say, if you ever have chance, you should definitely go for it. It is neither creepy nor unethical. It is educational.
I am most attracted to the foetus section. It exhibited foetus at its fourth week til 9 months. It is so cool. When I look at the fourth week foetus, I was surprised that it is actually look like a 'foetus'. In other words, you know that it is going to be a 'baby'. It does not have organ, but it has the shape. It has head and body. In this case, I can see why some people are against abortion. Even at fourth week, it seems that it is a life. The foetus will has a life if there is no abortion. Therefore, if we see it from this point of view, abortion is just not the right thing? But, what if the baby will suffer if he comes to the world? Does it justify abortion or does it not? The baby obviously has no chance to choose what he wants and does not want. So, what is right for him? And, who should decide?
I think we went too far. Back to the photos. LOL
Pink lady and I headed home after that. I think we were planning to do works. But I ended up spending time taking photos on the way home because the weather was so GOOD and this is very rare in Manchester!. haha..
Manchester Central Library. I like the architecture. It is very special. It is a circular library. It is built around 1930-1934. It is beside the Town Hall. You can see a small part of the Town Hall on the left in the picture.
This is Midland Hotel. It is nearby the Central Library. I think it is a very expensive hotel.
More photos of the Library..
Manchester Town Hall. I should have taken a full view of the Town Hall. This is only the main clock tower. -.- I forgot. Next time.
I just got back from Oxford. I went there for the weekend to visit a friend there. It was so sunny there. I thought there is no summer in England this year until I went to Oxford. It rained for the whole week in Manchester. But it is fine today. Although the weather is not as good as Oxford's, it is at least good enough for me to go jogging.
I decided, i won't touch my camera for few days, until I at least do some works. I need to work harder to get a better mark in my last paper. It could be my last essay in my life. I need to do it really really well.
I will upload some pictures of Oxford in a later date. But we didn't do much. We went shopping alot. LOL.
Here are some photos I took before I went to Oxford. They are all rain drops. hahah.. Thanks to the Rainchester!
After all, raining is not that bad right?
