I have been so lazy. Working is so tiring. I took a day off today because I wasn't feeling very well. It is definitely a right decision. I really need a break. I am currently 'working' at the organisation Monday to Thursday and then Saturday. Some days are paid, some days are not. Trust me, money is a good motivation sometimes.
Finally, today I feel slightly better. And I decided to cook myself something good. I bought seabass from fish market few days ago. So, I made myself some rice and steam the fish. I also make a dipping sauce. But I don't think I will make another one in anytime soon. It is such a hassle to cook a meal. I have to admit that it does feel good to have a good meal. It will be better if I have a company. :)
In order to be a more responsible person, may be I shall at least briefly mention what ingredients I used. There are vinegar, salt, water, sugar, rice wine, spring onion, soya sauce, ginger, garlic, onion and tomato. I fried the ginger, garlic and onion first. It takes quite a while to steam it. I think almost 25 minutes. The dipping sauce is basically almost the same ingredients without tomato, but added in chilli and sesame oil.
I promised Corinth that I will show her the sauce that I mentioned to her. haha..
This is the Si Chuan Spicy Noodle Sauce that I love. See, Corinth, it is 四川担担面酱, from Lee Kum Kee. She was laughing at me earlier on because the name is so funny. It is. It is pronounced as "Si Chuan Dun Dun Mien Jiang".
The next one is the tom yam paste that I used for yesterday noodles. I used two because I have two. I have two because I bought one and my friend, Gert gave me one when she came visit me. So, I use both because both are opened. LOL.
Mission Accomplished. =)
H and I went for pancake at Pancake Express in city on Saturday. We never been there before. They are opened recently.
The pancake didn't turn out particularly good. More precisely, it looks like a crepe to me more than pancake. But they have very nice chocolate ice-cream from Mövenpick - ice-cream brand from Switzerland. The chocolate one is extremely good because it is not too sweet even with chocolate pieces in it. However I didnt order that. H who had the ice-cream before didn't tell me about that. Thanks to him, I got a scoop of strawberry ice-cream, which turn out okay. Not too bad, but not as good as his.
But anyway, it was nice. I was craving for sweet food. I wanted something to keep my sugar level high and to keep myself energetic.
See ya and have a nice day!
I had chinese food at the restaurant, Tai Pan, which is literally across the place I'm staying. I have been staying at this place for almost a year and I been there only once; but my flatmate never been there at all.
We had all vegetarian food today because Pink Lady is vegetarian. LOL
Ma Po to fu. I think it is called bean curd with chilli sauce and sth sth. I don't really remember. LOL
We decided we need noodles also. Otherwise the food wont fill us up. So, we ordered crispy noodles. And, guess what, this plain crispy noodles with nothing in it, costs us £5++!!
We mixed the bean curd dish with the noodles.
We also ordered some dim sum.
Pink Lady loves this. So, we have to order this every time. LOL.
We also ordered lotus bun and this crystal dumpling thingy.
Finally, my favourite one - black sesame balls covered with peanuts and coconut! We didn't expect it to be like this. We thought it is the normal sesame ball we used to have. I was very reluctant to have it when I saw my friend had it. It has this black filling. I generally do not like food in black colour. It is black sesame after all. I don't know why is it that i never expect it to be black filling.
But, it turned out to be the best of the meal.
K got me Maple Sugar from Canada.
They are very sweet. She did warn me earlier, but seriously, it is still not within my expectation!! I put one in my mouth and bite it. ahhaha.. It is too soft to bite. The sugar melted right on your tooth. It is kind of funny though. If you ever have one, don't bite them. It is so so so so so sweet. But I kind of like it, coz I like to keep my sugar level high, especially when I have to do work. LOL because then it makes me hyper and do works. haha. I know. It is weird. I need a way to de-stress right?
And, I figure out the other way to consume it if I don't want my sugar level too high. Put one into my coffee! They are so nice with coffee. hahaha..
Believe it or not. Although they are so sweet, I actually had one everyday and I finished them within a week!
Thank, K. Get Me some again next time. LOL..
I went out with my Canadian friend, K on Sunday. We were planning to go to the Summer Food and Drink Festival. However, the entrance fee alone costs us £11. So, we decided to go to Rusholme (the Curry Mile) to have some food. I picked a Sri Langkan restaurant, King Cobra. I been there once with my flatmates and I quite like one of the dishes there. It is called Lumpries. It comes in banana leaves. It is a rice dish with cuttle fish, onion with hot spicy sauce, brinjal, chicken and boiled egg. It sounds like Nasi Lemak in Malaysia, isn't it? I wonder if Nasi Lemak originally comes from Sri Langka.
Lumpries is different from the Nasi Lemak in Malaysia, as its hot spicy sauce is not Sambal sauce. In fact, I won't call it spicy. Also, it doesn't has anchovies. But, it is still something nice and different from other food. And, it does remind me of Nasi Lemak a bit. haha. I would recommend it if you ever go to any Sri Langkan restaurant.
As usual, the waiter served us papadum with some sauces for appertiser.
Yummy~
Are you hungry now?
Thsi is something new to me. My flatmate, Linds makes her own popcorn at home, using corn seed and microwave.
Her mom brought her this from Canada when she came to visit her. Honestly, I never seen this before. I think popcorn must be a very popular and common thing there. At least, I never make my own popcorn at home before.
We had it the other day while watching kungfu panda in my room. LOL It is not bad, but it is salty flavour. I am more a fan of caramel popcorn. I always have a sweet tooth. :P
Here we are, popcorn in bag. It is called Smart Pop?!
It was flat before we put it in the microwave. It then grew bigger and started popping in the bag. It is weird.
Cook for just 2 1/2 minutes on high mode. I think. If I'm not mistaken.
And then.. it is ready to eat!
